We all have days when we think that we are superheroes for getting everything done without a snitch. But there are also days when nothing seems to be going right, and you just want to get this day over with. Lousy days can definitely bring out the worst in all of us.
But, a Dubai psychiatrist says that bad days are inevitable, but no matter how bad it is, you can still end it on a good note. Here are some tips to help you survive a bad day:
- Say NO to a pity party
When you are having a bad day, it is normal to dwell on what went wrong. People usually think about what they could have done to make it better. But there is no use crying over spilled milk. Although dwelling on the negative is pretty normal when things go south, dwelling on it for too long will just make things worse. You need to remember that it can happen to everyone, not just you. So, better cancel the pity party and start finding the solution.
- Find the source of the problem
Once you get yourself together, you need to start focusing on resolving the issue. What you need to do is to find the root cause of the problem and think of possible solutions to remedy the situation. Do not do this alone. Be sure to get help from others. At this point, you need all the help you can get so you can come up with a solid plan to rectify the situation before the day ends.
- Connect with others
Dealing with the problem alone will just exhaust you to no end. If you feel like you will be having a meltdown, call someone. Experts in depression therapy strongly advise their patients to reconnect in order to take some of the load off their shoulders. Isolating yourself during these times would only make things worse for you. Reaching out to a friend and seeking empathy can help you to feel good. If you don’t have someone to talk to at the moment, reaching out virtually can also help.
- Help others
If you are having a bad day, the last thing that you want to do is involve yourself with other’s problems. But lending a helping hand can make you feel good about yourself. Paying it forward can help lighten your mood somehow.
